The CAVE Gallery in Venice will host Noir, an exhibition of new works by artist “SIT” of Amsterdam, in the main gallery beginning Friday, April 8 through May 7.
In conjunction, CAVE will host Bird’s Eye View, an exhibit of new works by Los Angeles artist Jim Darling, in Gallery II.
An opening reception for the artists is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. April 8 at CAVE Gallery, 1108 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice. The reception features live painting by Max Neutra and DJs Kid Gusto and BusRider.
For his debut U.S. exhibition Noir, Dutch artist SIT returns to a bold black and white palette. Examining the troubled relation between the animal kingdom and mankind, the artist’s work is focused on the “magnificent beauty of the beast and the way it is used to serve the vanity that is intricate to humanity,” a gallery spokesperson explains.
Bird’s Eye View features Darling’s uniquely carved woodwork embellished with a stylized aerosol and acrylic technique. Each piece is a three-dimensional glimpse of intricately patterned rooftop landscapes balanced by the expansive vista of the open horizon.
The CAVE Gallery is open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
