The Westchester-Del Rey Cheer Academy will host the third annual Spring Fest Short Flag Theater from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 1st, at the Venice High School Auditorium, 13000 Venice Blvd., Mar Vista.

At Spring Fest, Cheer Academy students will demonstrate various moves such as “stepp,” pep flags, dance, and cheer.

Cheer Academy students, some as young as age five, learn the skills, steps, and routines necessary to attain a spot on their school’s cheerleading team when they get older.

Joining the students at the fundraiser are USA Pep Flags, The Lariats, DJ Dense from 100.3 “The Beat,” the West-chester Dance Academy, and the Venice High Stepp Team.

Spring Fest is open to the public and free parking is available.

Tickets are available for a minimum donation of $5 at the door or can be purchased online at

The Venice Marina Rotary Club sponsors the fundraiser and the Cheer Academy.

Donations raised go towards Rotary District 5280 Teacher mini-grants, which support the Patty Kim Interact Scholarship and the Westchester Del Rey Dance Funds.

Proceeds are used to provide local teachers with books, supplies, and equipment not funded by recent state budget cuts.
