In an effort to help ensure safety for children, State Assemblyman Ted Lieu sponsored a child fingerprinting event at the Mar Vista Farmers Market Sunday, December 2nd.

Public safety officials from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Pacific Division were on hand at the event to help fingerprint the children. Parents were then given the fingerprints and safety packets to store in their files at home.

Police said fingerprinting is a good way to ensure children’s safety because if parents and guardians keep a copy of the fingerprints in their files, officers can track the children easier “if the unthinkable occurs.”

All of the necessary materials were available free at the Mar Vista Farmers Market, at Grand View and Venice Boulevards.

Coloring books and other free public safety information for adults and children were also provided at the event, which was hosted by Lieu and the Mar Vista Farmers Market.
