The City of Santa Monica Planning and Community Development Department has released its Opportunities and Challenges report that examines existing conditions and trends in land use and circulation. The report is designed to allow the community to make recommendations for future changes to city ordinances.

The report is the second of the ongoing Shape the Future 2025 and Motion by the Ocean projects designed to update land use and circulation — vehicle and pedestrian traffic — elements of the city General Plan.

An open house community meeting to discuss the report is planned between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 16th, at the Ken Edwards Center, 1527 Fourth St., Santa Monica.

The City of Santa Monica Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the report at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 7th, in the Santa Monica City Council Chamber, 1685 Main St., Santa Monica.

Opportunities and Challenges builds on a previous report called Emerging Themes.

The second report is available for public review at all Santa Monica city libraries, the Santa Monica City Planning Division public counter and on the Web at
