The City of Santa Monica Department of Community and Cultural Services has scheduled a community meeting Thursday, February 28th, to seek input on the effectiveness of current policies related to the beach parking lot at 1550 Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Santa Monica.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Ken Edwards Center, 1527 Fourth St., Santa Monica.

Extended-run cultural events on the 1550 parking lot, located just north of the Santa Monica Pier — if managed properly and held in the off-season — are a source of revenue to help the city maintain and improve Santa Monica State Beach, city officials said.

The cultural events at the lot also meet the community’s demand for cultural offerings and can provide an economic benefit to the city by increasing retail and restaurant business, city officials said.

Community input can also be provided by sending comments to Open Space Management, 2600 Ocean Park Blvd., Santa Monica 90405, or by e-mail to
