The U.S. Coast Guard Los Angeles-Long Beach sector has suspended a search for a 31-year-old man who was last seen jumping off the Venice Pier early Monday, July 5.
Authorities said Brian Patrick Dunn of West Hollywood was reportedly intoxicated and not wearing a lifejacket when he jumped from the pier at about 2 a.m., hours after local Fourth of July celebrations were held.
High surf conditions in the area were reported at the time, according to the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard, Los Angeles County lifeguards, and the Los Angeles Police Department searched the area surrounding the pier extensively throughout the day on the water and from the air. A 41-foot Coast Guard utility boat, another Coast Guard cutter Blackfin, an 87-foot patrol boat, and an MH-65C Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles assisted in the search but found no trace of Dunn, a Coast Guard spokesperson said.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dunn is encouraged to contact the Coast Guard at (310) 521-3801.
