The Santa Monica Community College District is seeking applications for appointment to a seat on the Personnel Commission.
The appointment will be effective July 19th for a term of 18 months — through December 1st, 2007. The deadline for applications is Friday, June 2nd.
The Santa Monica College board of trustees recently voted to expand the Personnel Commission from three to five members.
One of the two new commissioners will be appointed by the board and the other by the college’s classified — or non-teaching — employees board.
The Personnel Commission is the public body responsible for the administration of the college’s merit system, a civil service system for classified employees.
To qualify for appointment to the commission, the applicant must be a registered voter and resident of the Santa Monica Community College District (which encompasses Santa Monica and Malibu).
Applicants must also support the concept of employment, continuance in employment, in-service promotional opportunities, and other related matters on the basis of merit and fitness.
