The public comment period has been extended for an EIR/EIS (environmental impact report/ statement) for the OceanWay liquefied natural gas (LNG) deepwater port proposed to be located in federal waters in Santa Monica Bay, 27 miles southwest of LAX (Los Angeles International Airport).

The new deadline for comments is Wednesday, October 31st, said Woodside Natural Gas government and public affairs advisor Michael Hinrichs.

The EIR/EIS is required for a licensing application for the deepwater LNG port.

The U.S. Coast Guard and the City of Los Angeles made the decision after project information was unavailable for review on the federal government Web site.

“Woodside is extremely pleased that the public comment date has been extended to give everyone the opportunity of providing input on the project,” said Hinrichs. He added that Woodside will continue to work with the community after the comment period has expired to gather input on the project, and that the public will still have many more opportunities to be heard.

Written comments may be mailed to Docket Management Facility, U.S. Department of Transportation, 1200 New Jersey Ave. SE, West Building, Room W12-140, Washington, DC 20590-0001, Attn: USCG-2007-26844.

Comments may be faxed to (202) 493-2251.
