Assemblywoman Julia Brownley, from Santa Monica, has been appointed to the State Assembly Aging and Long-Term Care Committee, the Budget Committee and the Budget Subcommittee #3 on Resources.

State Assembly Speaker Fabian Nu“ez had earlier selected Brownley to chair the Budget Subcommittee #2 on Education Finance.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled or honored by the speaker to have the opportunity to serve on these committees,” Brownley said. “These issues have been my passion, and led me to run for the Assembly.

“The Budget Subcommittees on Education and Resources gives me the chance to be hands-on with the governor’s budget proposals for these two critical issues, item by item, line by line, and working to make the investments that are needed for the longer term.

“The Committee on Aging will be dealing with how California meets the challenges of a population that is living longer.

“As a 12-year member of the Santa Monica-Malibu school board, I especially wanted the Education [Finance] Subcommittee. It’s a dream list of assignments, and perfect for the 41st Assembly District.”

Assembly policy and budget committees will be meeting over the next several months.

The state budget bill must be passed by the Legislature by midnight June 15th. September 14th is the last day for all other bills to be passed out of the Legislature.
