Construction of the new St. Joseph Center Headquarters in Venice has begun.
On Thursday, September 28th, St. Joseph Center’s staff members, board of directors and building project team gathered to celebrate the start of construction at the Center’s 204 Hampton Drive headquarters in Venice.
St. Joseph Center, a social service agency based in Venice, is building new headquarters that will allow it to better serve low-income children and families who need affordable childcare, supplemental groceries and job training, a center spokesman says.
At the September celebration of the start of construction, Father Anthony Gonzalez of St. Clement Catholic Church in Santa Monica opened the event with a blessing that St. Joseph Center continue to serve the community for years to come.
After the blessing, attendees had the opportunity to push down two walls of a building being demolished to make way for the new center.
Construction officially began on St. Joseph Center’s main service site on Monday, September 25th, with the removal of the old building’s roof.
Construction is scheduled to continue until the end of next year.
