Venice Neighborhood Council member and Democratic candidate for California State Assembly District 53, Nick Karno, was endorsed January 14th by the United Steel Workers union.
Karno is a former public school teacher who currently serves as a neighborhood prosecutor in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
“We are proud to endorse Nick Karno, a fellow union brother in his race for State Assembly. We know that Nick will be a strong advocate for Steel Workers and working families in Sacramento,” said Dave Campbell, secretary treasurer of United Steel Workers local 685.
Referring to his endorsement, Karno said, “I am deeply honored to have the support of the United Steel Workers.
“I know that people are hurting in our state and we need someone who will go to Sacramento to fight for jobs and working families — and that candidate is me,” Karno continued. “The way we get out of our current budget crisis is to create more jobs, especially green jobs. Jobs will be my number one priority when I go to the Assembly.”
Karno also recently received the endorsement of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) State Council.
