A couple who had reportedly been experiencing recent marital problems were found shot to death in their home on Vernon Avenue in Venice Friday morning, December 15th, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Pacific Community police said.
Hallie D’Amore, 64, and her husband, Richard, 66, were found dead in their bedroom after what appeared to be a murder-suicide, LAPD Pacific detective Mike DePasquale said.
A coworker of Hallie D’Amore went to the couple’s home in the 600 block of Vernon Avenue, south of Sunset Avenue, in Venice, at about 11 a.m. December 15th, to check on the couple’s welfare after they had not been seen for a couple of days, police said.
The coworker looked inside the window of the home, saw the couple in the bedroom and then called police, DePasquale said.
Police detectives believe Hallie D’Amore shot and killed Richard D’Amore and then turned the gun on herself sometime during the early morning hours of Thursday, December 14th, DePasquale said.
Police did not receive any calls from neighbors about hearing gunshots, he said.
A suicide note allegedly written by Hallie D’Amore and a gun were found at the scene, he said.
Based on statements from neighbors and family, the couple, who had reportedly been married for over 20 years, was having marital troubles, according to police.
