The inaugural Marina del Rey Film Festival, screening shorts, documentaries and features, will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott near Marina del Rey Friday through Sunday, Sept. 7 through 9.

The festival accepts films from every genre, topic, and country around the world, event organizers note.

Organizers say they hope to promote the spirit of filmmaking and the talent of independent filmmakers from around the world. The festival is dedicated to the art form of filmmaking and serving the interests of up and coming filmmakers by providing a non-competitive environment to showcase their films and artistic endeavors, organizers added.

An estimated 200 to 500 attendees are expected, they said.

Admission is free for all attendees and free parking is also available for the screenings.

Following the screenings, parties will be held each night. A charity brunch event is scheduled Sunday, Sept. 9.

The Courtyard by Marriott is at 13480 Maxella Ave., Del Rey.
