The free costumed festival Carnevale! Venice Beach based on Italy’s famous “Carnevale” will return for the eighth year Saturday, June 6th.
The event is produced by Venice Beach residents Esquire Jauchem, Miriam More, and Brady Walker. Promoters say Carnevale! has become a true Venice Beach tradition and is a perfect match for such an artistic community.
Carnevale is being presented in association with the Venice Chamber of Commerce and will take place from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 6th, at the ocean end of Windward Avenue at Venice Beach.
The scheduled festivities include a free costume contest, a line-up of local musical performers, arts and craft booths with original clothing, jewelry and accessories, DJs, dancing, live music and stilt walkers.
This year’s line-up of performers includes acts such as The Bonedaddys; Harissa Belly Dance Troupe; Hillel-Mr. Balloon Man; Kathy Leonardo; Gabriel Rosati & Brazilatafro Project; Street Smart; Quebb, Sugarbitch; UFONIK and Wadada Raggea Band.
City Councilman Bill Rosendahl will be one of the scheduled guest speakers. The popular Fiery Grand Finale featuring Mutaytor, which combines a musical show and a visual spectacle, will include fire dancers and pyrotechnic acts.
“The producers of Carnevale! are very honored to have been given a grant from the Venice Neighborhood Council to support the event this year and we are excited to once again receive funding for the festival for this year and next from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Without these contributions, we could not produce the festival,” said event producer Jauchem.
Additional event co-sponsors are Graphics Quarter, Project Alma, The Free Venice Beachhead, The Townhouse and the new Hotel Erwin.
