Sweet Tooth, an exhibit of culinary themed art works, is on display at The Happening Gallery in Marina del Rey through Sunday, May 29.
Among the works featured are those by painter Terry Romero Paul, who was recently featured in American Art Collector Magazine.
Works by artist Irma Cavat are also included in the Sweet Tooth display. Cavat studied with Russian sculptor Alexander Archipenko, modeled for French surrealist painter Renee Magritte, worked with Willem De Kooning and ultimately became part of the Abstract Expressionist group, which also included renowned artist Jackson Pollock, a gallery spokeswoman said.
This pedigree earned Cavat a $40,000 sale to the McDonald’s Corporation, which purchased her work as a gift to the employee who invented the McMuffin, the gallery spokeswoman noted.
The Happening Gallery is located at 4047 Lincoln Blvd., Marina del Rey. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
