Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica will present “Assimilations,” the premiere of a new evening-length dance theater performance exploring assimilation in society with the Dorcas Roman Dance Theatre (DRDT). Friday and Saturday, March 19th and 20th.
Performances are scheduled at 8:30 p.m. both days at Highways at the 18th Street Arts Center, 1651 18th St., Santa Monica.
Through the use of innovative and demanding movement vocabulary, “Assimilations” presents the audience with diverse ways to integrate into the collective, Highways Artistic Director Leo Garcia says. The work explores various aspects of assimilation.
Dorcas Roman Dance Theatre uses dance, theater, and media to help understand, reveal, and provoke the idea of a distinct place in society without loss of self. The theater group is a multidisciplinary organization that explores social, racial, and gender issues through the use of dance and theater.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for members, students, and seniors.
