CAVE Gallery in Venice will present the debut U.S. exhibition of works by English artist Craww, beginning Friday, Dec. 10 through Jan. 7.
Drawing inspiration from daydreams, music, comics, nature and gin, Craww creates “dreamlike portraits rendered with a dynamic mix of elegance, balance and disciplined chaos,” a gallery spokesperson says. The works will be featured as part of the Crooked Comfort show at CAVE.
The self-taught artist’s work conveys a “fascination with ambiguity: pretty things in dark places, nasty surprises masquerading in beauty, hidden stories and happy accidents,” the spokesperson explains.
Crooked Comfort will also showcase new works by artists Andy Haynes, Emma Overman, Jasmine Worth, Jennifer Springman, Marie Barr, Michael Page, Mike Maxwell, Paul Chatem, Roland Tamayo and Tatiana Suarez.
CAVE Gallery is located at 1108 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice. The gallery is open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
