Discover Marina del Rey Day, a free annual community and family-oriented event, will return to Burton Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10.

Sponsored by Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe and the Department of Beaches and Harbors, the event offers information booths from various organizations on health, safety and the environment, plus water activities, live music, inflatables, rides, games, marionette shows, arts and crafts, and food.

Admission to the park is free. The purchase of a $5 wristband gives attendees access to all attractions including a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. Food is also available for purchase at the park’s new restaurant.

Among the featured events are a popular air-sea rescue demonstration in the Marina’s main channel by the United States Coast Guard and a special screening of the Walt Disney Pictures/Pixar film “UP” at 1:30 p.m. Orquesta Charangoa will perform live music, preceded by a performance from the Venice High School choral group, The Allegros, under the direction of Wendy Kornbeck, from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

The Bob Baker Marionettes will present performances throughout the day and the county Department of Parks and Recreation will offer arts and crafts workshops. Beaches and Harbors’ WATER youth program staff will also offer leisure kayaking from noon to 3 p.m. in the main channel for visitors ages 6 and up.

Visitors can tour the Marina del Rey Anglers/Ocean Resources Enhancement Program’s White Sea Bass grow-out pen, which will allow them to watch the counting and releasing of the sea bass. The group will also sponsor youth fishing off the fishing dock for visitors ages 7 to 15. Sea bass grow-out pen tours and youth fishing will conclude at 3 p.m.
