“Discover Marina del Rey Day,” an annual day of family fun and activities, is planned in the Marina.

The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors and the Department of Parks and Recreation will present Discover Marina del Rey Day 2005 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 9th, in Burton Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey.

Parking is available for $5 in Los Angeles County Lot 4, at 13500 Mindanao Way near the park.

A favorite activity among kids each year at Discover Marina del Rey includes the large inflatable games set up to climb in, on and around.

Discover Marina del Rey Day 2005 is a free community event, but those who want to use the inflatable games will have to pay $5 for a wristband.

In addition to the inflatable games, the wristband entitles people to snack carts and a Halloween pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.

Food and beverages are also available for sale at the Burton Chace Park restaurant CafÈ Lorelei.

The day’s events include information booths, games, a performance by the Bob Baker Marionettes, and an air-sea rescue demonstration by the United States Coast Guard and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The Department of Animal Care and Control will bring its Adopt-a-Pet Program to the event where people can adopt animals at the site and take them home the same day.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the Venice High School choral group the Allegros, under the direction of Wendy Kornbeck, will provide live music.

The Belle Air Brass will also perform Dixieland songs.
