The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors is offering introduction to shore fishing classes this month at the new Dockweiler Beach Youth Center, 12505 Vista del Mar, Playa del Rey.

Fishing poles and bait will be provided at no cost. Anglers typically catch surfperch, croaker, corbina, halibut and leopard shark.

All ages are welcome; however, youth under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants over 16 years of age must present a valid California fishing license to participate and can find fishing license information by visiting the Web site,

Shore fishing program classes are scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. on Sundays, May 9th, 16th and 23rd. Sessions are limited to ten participants.
