Composer, saxophonist and impresario Geoff “Double G” Gallegos will perform at the Santa Monica Jazz on the Lawn concert scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 23rd outside City Hall, 1685 Main St.

Gallegos has pioneered a musical fusion of jazz, classical, and hip-hop that has delighted both fans and critics alike, a Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division spokesperson said.

Known for his leadership of local favorite the DAKAH hip-hop orchestra, Gallegos has played to capacity crowds at Disney Hall, Royce Hall at UCLA, The House of Blues, the South By Southwest Music Festival, New Orleans Jazzfest and the 2005 Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, among others.

Soft drinks and water are available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Virginia Avenue Park Teen Center, a youth arts and recreation center providing educational and cultural arts programs designed by teens for teens.
