Marina del Rey resident and Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine alumnus Dr. David Federick has been invited to speak at the school’s commencement Sunday, May 18th.

Federick, an alumnus of the school’s specialty program in prosthodontics, plans to speak to students graduating the Doctor of Dental Medicine program and the postdoctoral specialties.

He serves as adjunct clinical assistant professor in the Department of Restorative Sciences at the school.

“Dr. Federick has made numerous praiseworthy contributions both to the profession of dentistry and to his alma mater,” said Goldman School of Dental Medicine interim dean Dr. Jeffrey Hutter. “I can think of no better person to speak to our graduates as they prepare to enter the work force upon graduation.”

In 2002 the school gave Federick the Distinguished Alumni Award for Service to the Profession of Dentistry.

Federick manages a private practice in restorative dentistry, periodontal-prosthetic rehabilitation and dental implant reconstruction in the South Bay area of Los Angeles.

He also conducts biomaterials research at UCLA and has an appointment as clinical associate professor in the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics at the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston.

Federick has presented dental continuing education courses and workshops at dental schools and professional meetings both nationally and internationally.

He has also published in both national and international scientific journals and has contributed to dental texts.
