A 40-year-old man died early Sunday, April 22nd, when the car he was driving struck utility poles and crashed into a tree on Sepulveda Boulevard, north of Los Angeles International Airport, in Westchester, police said.
The man, believed to be from Thousand Oaks, was driving on Sepulveda Boulevard near 84th Street in Westchester at about 6:10 a.m., when he lost control of the vehicle, struck a couple of utility poles and crashed into a tree, a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) West Traffic division spokesman said.
The victim, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was ejected in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. according to LAPD West Traffic.
No other injuries were reported.
Police are investigating the accident but said it may have been caused by speeding. The vehicle sustained severe damage in the crash, police said.
