Awareness Fest West, a multi-media festival featuring film premieres, a bike-in outdoor film screening, multiple donation-based yoga classes, music and dance parties, will take place at the Electric Lodge, 1416 Electric Ave., Venice.
Opening day is Friday, Nov. 2, with events from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Opening night coincides with First Fridays on Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Closing day is Sunday, Nov. 4, with events beginning at 8 a.m. and concluding with a closing party at 8:30 p.m.
All opening day festivities including yoga classes, films, the bike-in, and live music are free, with the exception of the screening of the new film, “Rock the Boat.” Tickets for this film are $11 in advance and $14 at the door.
A free music and mingle party with String Theory is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. Nov. 2. The free bike/skate/walk-in screening of “With My Own Two Wheels” is scheduled at 9:30 p.m. in the Electric Lodge parking lot.
The Awareness Film Festival is a semi-annual fundraising event primarily benefiting the nonprofit organization Heal One World, which offers alternative treatments to low-income and underserved populations. Heal One World seeks to educate people about preventative health care, natural, non-invasive treatments and self-help techniques for the mind, body and soul.
The inaugural Westside festival will offer five screenings, including the world premiere of Emmanuel Itier’s “FEMME-Women Healing the World,” on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. Also premiering are “The Almond Tree,” 11 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, and “A Sister’s Call,” 3 p.m. on Nov. 4.
