Santa Monica’s Solid Waste Management Division will conduct a free public electronics recycling event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 13th at the city’s refuse transfer station, 2500 Michigan Ave.

This event is a yearly round-up of electronic waste open to all residents and businesses throughout Santa Monica and the surrounding region. It provides an opportunity for residents and businesses to clear storage space of used electronics and recycle them for free.

Event organizers remind the public that electronic waste should never be left at the curb or in the alley, or placed into the trash or recycling cart for collection. Most electronic devices contain lead and other toxic metals that could be released and pose hazards to people, fish, or drinking water quality if they are broken, organizers said.
