French avant-garde theater artist Nathalie Broizat will return to Highways Performance Space with her latest dance theater production, Encore l’Amour!
Performances are scheduled at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 16th and 17th, and 7 p.m. Sunday, April 18th at Highways, 1651 18th St., Santa Monica.
Inspired by the universal subject of love, Broizat says the production is influenced by French cabaret. The performance follows the success of Broizat’s Amour Where Are You? at Highways.
Live music will feature original compositions by French musician Jean-Paul Monsche, and performed by the Mad Alsacians, a—stylish, soulful accordion-led combo.
Broizat says she uses symbols and metaphors with poetry and imagery and attempts to manipulate clichés with humor and elegance. Each performance mixes abstraction and stylization, surrealism and realism, dance and theater, she explains.
Broizat is an experimental (avant-garde) theater artist, actress, choreographer, and certified movement analyst who lives and works in Los Angeles. She studied performing arts and acting at Paris University.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for students, seniors and members.
