The City of Santa Monicaís Virginia Avenue Park, Santa Monica College (SMC) and the Santa Monica Human Relations Council are hosting a ìUnity Resource Fairî from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 22nd, at Virginia Avenue Park, 2200 Virginia Ave., Santa Monica.

The free event will include entertainment by performers La.dee.Dred (reggae/soul), the Horny Toads (alternative rock), Coop! Inc. (jazz), Harmony Keepers (Native American ceremony and drumming), Bardo Martinez (African-Indigenous drumming), Hip hop artists twoclickseven, PYFC, Leila Steinberg, Chile con Carne and others.

The event will include a special keynote address by Santa Monica city manager P. Lamont Ewell on ìCreating a Culture of Success for all Community Youth.î

Along the same theme, the Santa Monica Human Relations Council has organized community dialogue workshops to take place at the park during the fair. Local nonprofit agencies will also provide information on the array of services offered in Santa Monica.

Other activities scheduled are a Kids Art Station provided by Michaelís art supplies, games and contests for youths of all ages and food from local vendors, including Cha Cha Chicken and Baby Blues BBQ.

There will be free parking at Santa Monica College ìStructure Aî at the corner of Pico Boulevard and 17th Street.

A Big Blue Bus chartered for the event will shuttle attendees between Santa Monica College at Pico and 16th Street and Pico and 22nd Street. Directional signs will be visible at the college on Pico and 17th Street.

Virginia Avenue Park is served by Big Blue Bus Line No. 7 and is accessible for persons with disabilities.
