The U.S. Postal Service is continuing expanded hours for the holiday season through Tuesday, December 21st.
Local post offices will be open during the extended customer service retail hours between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, and between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, through Tuesday, December 21st.
The local post offices with the expanded hours include:
Marina del Rey, 4766 Admiralty Way;
Mar Vista, 3816 Grand View Blvd.;
Santa Monica, 1248 Fifth St. and 1217 Wilshire Blvd.;
Venice, 1601 Main St.; and
Westchester, 7381 La Tijera Blvd.
When using first-class mail and priority mail to send cards and packages domestically, the Postal Service recommends that customers mail out-of-state mail by Tuesday, December 21st and in-state mail by Wednesday, December 22nd.
Customers can still use express mail for their packages to many destinations after those dates.
The Postal Service also recommends that customers now switch from parcel post to priority mail and start using express mail Thursday, December 23rd.
The Postal Service expects the year’s busiest mailing day will be Monday, December 20th, with 850 million pieces expected.
Throughout the year, the daily average volume of mail for the Postal Service is 670 million pieces.
Wednesday, December 22nd, is expected to be the busiest delivery day.
