The Santa Monica Public Library will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fairview Branch at 2101 Ocean Park Blvd., Santa Monica, Saturday, October 21st, with festive doo-wop and Hula-Hoop programs.
Admission is free. Fifties-style attire may be worn.
Puppet Woody will make an appearance at 10:30 a.m. for children ages four and up.
There may be an Elvis sighting, says a Santa Monica Public Library spokesman.
Freestyle Hula-Hoop begins at 11:30 a.m. No previous experience is required.
From noon to 2 p.m., the library will offer 1950s music on the newly renovated patio.
The Mighty Echoes, an a cappella doo-wop group, will perform at 2 and 3 p.m. in the library’s community room. Free tickets for the two concerts will be distributed at the library beginning Monday, October 16th.
