The family theatre musical All Join In: A Fairytale Sing-A-Long Afternoon will return to the Santa Monica Playhouse beginning Saturday, Sept. 17 through Oct. 16.
All Join In takes audiences on an interactive musical fairytale journey that includes songs and scenes from such classic Santa Monica Playhouse family theatre stories as Cinderella, Alice and the Wonderful Tea Party, Barnyard Madness with the Three Little Pigs, Snowhite, and Dorothy’s Adventures in Oz.
Performances are scheduled at 12:30 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the Santa Monica Playhouse, 1211 Fourth St.
During the shows, audience members can “join in” the fun as they sing along with their favorite characters to projected lyrics, follow along in activity-song books that they get to keep, and vie to win prizes and the chance to actively participate in the action on stage, a playhouse spokesperson said.
All Join In is written and directed by Chris DeCarlo and Evelyn Rudie, with original music and lyrics by DeCarlo, Rudie and Matthew Wrather. The show was commissioned in 2010 as the inaugural production of the Playhouse Family Theatre Musical Matinee Series’ 40th anniversary and was the featured presentation of this summer’s Free Festival of Theatre.
The cast includes Actors’ Repertory Theatre members Celeste Akiki, Melissa Gentry, Rocky Jarman, Graham Silbert and Nima Ghassemian as the master of ceremonies.
Tickets are $10.50 for children aged 12 and under and $12.50 for adults. Reservations are necessary. For reservations, (310) 394-9779 ext. 2.
