future is panel topic at Main Library Thursday, March 29
Santa Monica Public Library is partnering with the Santa Monica Farmers Market in a series of four programs this year. The new Main Library will host the Thursday programs on March 29th, May 10th, August 16th and November 15th. All programs will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
The first program in the series, on Thursday, March 29th, is “The Future of Farmers Markets.” Panelists for this program include Los Angeles Times columnist Russ Parsons; Evan Kleiman, owner/chef of Angeli Caffe and host of KCRW’s Good Food; Howell Tumlin, executive director of the Southland Farmers’ Market Association; and fruit farmer Mike Cirone.
The panel is scheduled to discuss what farmers markets will be like five, ten, and 20 years from now and there will be “farm-fresh food” prepared by Evan Kleiman. Topics for the May, August, and November programs have not yet been announced.
