Walk Santa Monica — a City of Santa Monica essay program — says there is still time to enter an essay on your favorite Santa Monica walk in an essay contest.
The deadline to enter is 5:30 p.m. Monday, January 9th.
The ten best-written descriptions of walking routes in Santa Monica will earn the authors an opportunity to appear on CityTV.
People of all ages, including children, are eligible to win. Employees and agents of the City of Santa Monica and their immediate relatives are not eligible.
Only one entry per person is allowed.
The walk must be at least 75 percent within the Santa Monica city limits, but the author does not have to be a city resident.
Entries must be a one-page typed, single spaced or a two-page handwritten description of a favorite walk and why the walk is a favorite.
Winners will be chosen for the description they provide and not for the walking route itself.
Entries may be mailed to Favorite Walk Contest, Community Programs Division, 1527 Fourth Street Suite 106, Santa Monica, CA 90401, or e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
Entries can also be dropped off at any of these locations:
n Clover Park, Ocean Park Boulevard and 26th Street, Santa Monica;
n Community Programs Division, on the first floor of the Ken Edwards Center, 1527 Fourth St., Santa Monica;
n Miles Playhouse, at Reed Park, Seventh Street and Wilshire Boulevard; and
n Senior Recreation Center, 1450 Ocean Ave., Santa Monica.
To help authors find inspiration, Walk Santa Monica maps featuring six popular walking routes in the city are available at Santa Monica City Hall, the Ken Edwards Center, and all city libraries.
