The sixth annual Somatic Movement Arts Festival, Los Angeles (SOMA Fest), featuring movement workshops, performances, panel discussions and “jams,” will be held Tuesday through Sunday, Sept. 18 through 23 at the 18th Street Arts Complex, 1639 18th St., Santa Monica.
This year’s festival will present world renown artists Emilie Conrad, Stefan Ferry, Susan Harper, Caryn Heilman, and eight other celebrated somatic artists as well as classes.
New this year, SOMA Fest will feature an event in the “Summer of Peace,” a global movement to cultivate inner harmony and create a culture of peace, event organizers said.
Founded in 2007, SOMA Fest is intended to foster and promote the study, practice and appreciation of somatic wellness and creativity.
Organizers say that SOMA Fest aims to build community in the field of somatics, bringing together international artists/faculty from diverse practices in workshops, discussions and performances.
Workshops and performances with somatic artist-educators from across the U.S. and Israel will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Somatic performance labs will be held from noon to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 18-22, concluding with a 4 p.m. performance Sept. 23.
