A fire caused minor damage at the Holiday Harbor complex on Panay Way in Marina del Rey last week.
No one was injured after an electrical fire, which firefighters said originated from an ice machine on the first floor, spread to the second floor over the Ships Store at 14025 Panay Way, Wednesday, January 26th.
The fire caused minor damage, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman said.
County firefighters arrived at 7:21 p.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the rear of the building, the fire department spokesman said.
Firefighters extinguished the fire at 7:32 p.m. At the time of the fire, no one was inside the two-story building.
Sue Peschko, Ships Store manager, said cost estimates for damage to the building have not yet been determined. The marine hardware store was open for business the next day, she said.
The Ships Store received minor exterior fire damage and interior smoke damage, the fire department spokesman said.
“It’s mostly smoke damage,” Peschko said. “It’s charred right around where the balcony is and upstairs too.”
Fire investigators reported that the electrical fire was accidental.
