The Los Angeles City Fire Department’s Westside Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) invites the public to a free presentation on the Hyperion Sewage Treatment Plant from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, December 2nd, at Fire Station 5, 8900 S. Emerson Ave., Westchester.
Chuck Turhollow, division manager at the Hyperion plant, has spent most of his 28 years as a city employee. He oversees programs including training, safety, hazardous waste management, risk management and the plant’s emergency preparedness.
The community event is sponsored by CERT of West Los Angeles, representing volunteers in LAFD Battalions 4, 9 and 18.
Admission is free and open to all CERT members and the general public, subject to available space.
CERT members are trained in emergency first aid and other disaster response skills including fighting small fires, light search and rescue, and triage, and they often assist the Los Angeles Fire Department.
