Five members of the Santa Monica Girl Scouts Troop 214 have received the Girl Scouts organization’s highest honor, the Gold Award.

The Gold Award winners are Claire Kaiser, Mackenzie Cajka, Natalie Pourroy, Kimberly Van DeWydevan and CÈline Aziz.

To earn a Gold Award, the five Girl Scouts had to win Bronze and Silver Awards in their earlier years of scouting and volunteer for more than 50 hours on community service projects in their last year of scouting.

Each Girl Scout created her own project, while adult volunteers and project consultants helped them complete those proj-ects.

Their projects involved creating a hand puppet theater, dental care kits, royal costumes, bookcases and a book drive, and baby clothes and blankets.

The five Girl Scouts graduated from high school and will attend California universities this fall.
