Former longtime Santa Monica resident Mary Ann Prenatt passed away Jan. 14. She was 84.
Prenatt was born in Olean, NY and raised her family in the Midwest. In 1987, she moved to Santa Monica, where she loved the liveliness, diversity and climate, said a family spokesperson.
Prenatt was a past president and founding member of the Santa Monica Quilt Guild.
She was known for her quiet involvement in small projects to benefit those less fortunate. The most recent was knitting dozens of warm hats for the homeless, her family said.
Prenatt is survived by 12 children: Diane Prenatt; Carol Sanborn; Eileen Beyer; Susan Prenatt; Linda Prenatt; David Prenatt; Steven Prenatt; Anne Green; Mary Studenny; Karen Wolfe; John Prenatt and Alyssa Martin. She is additionally survived by 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Frank, and son, Thomas, preceded her in death.
A memorial mass will be held to celebrate her life at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 725 California Ave., Santa Monica.
