Santa Monica staple Fred Segal will open its home and lifestyle store Fred Segal Green with a party Friday, April 25th.

The store has an environmental mandate and retails only eco-friendly and fair trade products from around the world.

A part of that initiative was to have an entire green construction, from building materials to finishes, for the 1,200-square-foot space in Fred Segal’s east building.

Deborah Guyer Greene, founder and co-owner of Venice’s epOxyGreen was commissioned to create the sustainable store design.

Fred Segal Green president Christine Stafford says they worked closely with the eco-friendly building and design product supplier epOxyGreen and the green construction management firm Green Planet Building.

The firm is certified by Build it Green and is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Greene adds that the materials they used include those that are reclaimed, recycled, formaldehyde-free, non-toxic, organic and all-natural.

The product lines in the store include simbl, Esque Studio,

Arcade Avec, Maoli, Friedemann, Buehler, Dalaleo and Ecosmart.

The public is invited to the opening party at 4 p.m. Friday in the store, 500 Broadway, Santa Monica.
