The Sixth Annual Venice Community Barbeque and Picnic will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Oakwood Recreation Center, 767 California Ave., Venice.
Visitors will be treated to free chicken and pork, grilled by chef Barkley Griggs and his team on the “MOAB” (mother of all barbeques), and served by firefighters from Los Angeles Fire Station 63 in Venice.
Community members are encouraged to bring their families and side dishes such as pie, cake, cookies, salad, or biscuits.
Anyone who brings a potluck dish is automatically eligible to enter a drawing for prizes.
Event organizers are still in need of additional volunteers to help staff the event.
