The free Summer Beach Shuttle service has returned to transport the public between Playa Vista and Marina del Rey to area points of interest.
The service is provided through a continued partnership between Playa Vista, Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe and the county Board of Supervisors.
This summer season the Beach Shuttle will operate on Fridays, weekends, and holidays between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day, from May 22nd to September 7th.
Friday and Saturday operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and holiday operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In support of four Thursday evening classical concerts at Burton Chace Park in Marina del Rey, (July 9th and 23rd; August 6th and 20th) the Beach Shuttle will also operate from 5 to 10 p.m. to provide direct service to Burton Chace Park.
The shuttle will also provide service for the Sunday, September 27th Abbot Kinney Festival in Venice, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The free Beach Shuttle buses will travel from Playa Vista every 30 minutes, beginning at 10:15 a.m., carrying passengers to popular spots including Fisherman’s Village, Waterside Shopping Center, Mothers Beach and the Venice Beach Pier. A pause in service will occur between 3:15 and 4:15 p.m. to allow for the shuttle drivers’ lunch breaks.
The Beach Shuttle vehicles are powered by clean compressed natural gas. Space for bicycles is available. Shuttle stops are conveniently located near seven Marina del Rey WaterBus boarding locations.
