The free Summer Beach Shuttle offering service between Playa Vista and major points of interest in the Marina del Rey area will begin operating Memorial Day weekend.

The shuttle service is provided through a continued partnership between Playa Vista and the office of Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe, who represents Marina del Rey in the Fourth District.

This summer the beach shuttle will operate on Fridays, weekends, and holidays between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day, from May 28th to September 6th. Friday and Saturday operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., while Sunday and holiday operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In support of the Thursday evening classical concerts at Burton Chace Park in the Marina (July 8th and 22nd; August 5th and 19th), the beach shuttle will also operate from 5 to 10 p.m. to provide direct service to and from Burton Chace Park. The shuttle will also provide service between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, September 26th for the Abbot Kinney Festival in Venice.

The free beach shuttle buses will travel from Playa Vista every 30 minutes, beginning at 10:15—a.m., carrying passengers to major points of interest including Fisherman’s Village, Waterside Shopping Center, Mother’s Beach, and Venice Beach Pier. A pause in service occurs from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. to allow for the shuttle drivers’ lunch breaks.

The beach shuttle vehicles are powered by clean compressed natural gas and have space available for bicycles. Shuttle stops are also conveniently located near seven Marina del Rey WaterBus boarding locations.
