The Friends of the Ballona Wetlands continued the nationwide celebration of Earth Day with a daylong cleanup of the environment- ally endangered wetlands area in Playa del Rey on April 25th.
Approximately 180 volunteers participated in removing trash and other debris from the wetlands during events that took place throughout Los Angeles.
“We can’t imagine a more exciting way to celebrate Earth Day than by actively working to clean and restore these extraordinary wetlands,” said Kelly Rose, educational director for Friends of the Ballona Wetlands.
The California State Parks Foundation was a partner for the event.
Friends of the Ballona Wetlands members say their mission is to champion the restoration and protection of the wetlands and to involve and educate the public as advocates and stewards.
