The Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade and Marine Animal Rescue are partnering on a fundraising cruise, scheduled from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 in the main channel of the Marina.

The cruise is open to the public and will help provide both organizations with needed funding for their efforts. Boarding for the cruise will begin at 6 p.m., with the boat departing at 6:30 p.m. from the Hornblower Cruises dock in Fisherman’s Village, 13755 Fiji Way, Marina del Rey.

Organizers of the volunteer, community-based Holiday Boat Parade have funded a fireworks show prior to the parade since 2009. They say the fundraising cruise will help provide them with the financial support needed to put on the parade and fireworks show this year.

The 49th Annual Holiday Boat Parade is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, with a fireworks show planned at 5:55 p.m.

The cruise will also help support Marine Animal Rescue (MAR), which provides professional marine animal response, rescue and transportation services in Santa Monica Bay at no cost.

Currently MAR is seeking funding to build a new care site at Dockweiler State Beach in Playa del Rey to rehabilitate hundreds of marine mammals rescued each year.

Tickets for the cruise are $50 each and must be purchased in advance of the cruise. Reservations are required since space is limited. A pasta bar is included in the ticket price, and a cash bar for drinks will be available for onboard guests.

To purchase tickets for the Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade and Marine Animal Rescue cruise, please make checks payable to: Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade, 8939 S. Sepulveda Blvd., #102, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
