Gary Jones has been appointed deputy director of the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors’ Asset Management and Planning Bureau.

Jones, who assumed the role August 24th, has over 18 years of real estate experience, including the last eight years in the public sector. Since 2000, he has worked for the City of San Diego and was responsible for a revenue-generating portfolio and leases within Mission Bay Park.

He also has direct coastal zone experience and has negotiated long-term leases for redevelopment and refurbishment of marinas, marine commercial and visitor-serving projects, a Beaches and Harbors spokesperson said. Jones was awarded San Diego’s “Customer Service Achievement” award in 2005.

“I’m delighted to be joining the team at the Department of Beaches and Harbors,” Jones said of his new position. “I look forward to the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the Marina del Rey community.”

Jones has a master of science degree in real estate studies from De Montfort University in Leicester, United Kingdom and a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Southampton. He has a wife and two children and enjoys soccer, running and spending time with his family.
