The Santa Monica Public Library will presents “A Night with Pop Violinist CARA-C” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
CARA-C is a Grammy Award-nominated pop violinist and a Juilliard graduate. During the performance, she will provide an in-depth look at the elements that went into her hit album Clouds of Magellan, a Santa Monica library spokesperson said. The musician intends to reveal the personal techniques and inspiration that shaped the album, the spokesperson said.
Clouds of Magellan features a large symphonic and rhythm section backing CARA-C’s solo violin. The performance will include a question and answer session, a guest presenter, and guest dancers. A CD sale and signing will follow the program.
Winner of a Los Angeles Music Award, CARA-C has graced many of the top concert halls worldwide, including Carnegie Hall. She has performed with such renowned artists as Burt Bacharach, Whitney Houston, Barry Manilow, Kenny Loggins, N-Sync and Jean-Luc Ponty.
CARA-C is an avid supporter of the aerospace and aviation industries, environmental sustainability, music and art education, and female empowerment. She works to bring further attention to these causes through her music performances and fundraisers, according to the library spokesperson.
