Jeanine Hawk, who has had 23 years of experience in financial management in higher education, municipal government and the private sector, has been named vice president of business and administration at Santa Monica College (SMC).

As SMCís chief business officer, Hawk is responsible for leadership and administration of the collegeís business operations, including fiscal services, budget planning, contracts, risk management, and facilities planning and management. The new vice president will oversee a staff of 176 employees.

Hawk comes to SMC from De Anza College in Cupertino, where she served five years as vice president of educational resources and college operations. She was the finance director for city government in Medford, Oregon, and held business administrative posts for eight years at Rogue Community College in Grants Pass, Oregon.

Hawk also spent over ten years in the private industry while working in a variety of business and administrative positions.

She received her bachelorís degree in social studies from the University of California at Irvine and a masterís in business administration from Southern Oregon University.

The SMC executive has served on the boards of several organizations, including the Josephine County School Board and the Josephine County Human Rights Alliance, and she is currently on the board of the Association of California Community College Administrators.
