The Airport-Marina group of the Sierra Club has scheduled a meeting with the topic “Promoting Health Through Environmental Change” at 7:45 p.m. Monday, November 17th, in the Burton Chace Park community room, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey.
The meeting will include a slide presentation by Jean Armbruster focusing on the relationship between community design and health, and policies that improve the places where people live, work and play, according to the Airport-Marina group. Armbruster is director of the Los Angeles County Health Department Policies from Livable, Active Communities and Environments (PLACE) program.
“As the health of Angelenos is increasingly threatened by high rates of obesity, heart disease, diabetes and asthma, we need to create environmental change that makes it easy for people to get regular physical activity, access good nutrition and breathe clean air,” Armbruster said.
The meeting is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
