A woman riding a bicycle on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica was killed in a hit and run collision late Tuesday, July 10, police said.

The crash occurred at about 11:30 p.m. near Entrada Drive, where a vehicle struck the cyclist and the driver allegedly fled the scene, police said.

Witnesses told police that the cyclist was riding southbound near the curb of the far right lane and swerved toward the middle of the lane before being hit by the vehicle, Santa Monica police Sgt. Richard Lewis said.

The victim, described only as a woman in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The vehicle was described as a white GM-style pick-up truck with front-end damage. No description of the driver was immediately available.

The investigation was continuing.
