Over 30 businesses on Main Street in Santa Monica will be holding parties featuring holiday beverages, snacks, sweets and door prizes at the Main Street Holiday Extravaganza Saturday, Dec. 3.

The celebration will take place from 6 to 9 p.m.

As part of the extravaganza, the traditional Main Street tree lighting festivities, featuring the Santa Monica High School Choir and Santa Claus, will begin at 6 p.m. on the lawn of the California Heritage Museum, 2612 Main St.

After the tree lighting, Santa will lead a candlelight walk from the museum to Edgemar Center for the Arts’ popular shopping cart holiday tree, where the tree will be lit and more entertainment will be provided by The Off Their Jingle Bell Rockers.

The Rockers band, Samohi Choir and Santa will then stroll the street caroling and entertaining at the various parties, which will have some live music.

The public will have a chance to win prizes by participating as judges in the Eighth Annual Main Street Holiday Decorations Contest. Judging ends at 9 p.m. Dec. 3.

There will also be a sidewalk sale at participating merchants from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3 and 4.

The Main Street Holiday Extravaganza is produced by the Main Street Business Improvement Association and is sponsored in part by Edgemar and the Santa Monica Daily Press.
