An annual Holiday Open House and Tea to benefit Airport Marina Counseling Service is to be held at The Inn at Playa del Rey, 435 Culver Blvd., Playa del Rey, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, December 4th.

There will also be a benefit tea at the Channel Road Inn, 219 W. Channel Road, Santa Monica, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 3rd.

Airport Marina Counseling Service (AMCS) provides low-cost counseling service and 500 people each week receive treatment at the facility, which has been in service for more than 40 years.

The children’s center is a new expansion of the center’s community mental health services and now offers child and adolescent counseling. Children may be referred by their teacher or brought in by a parent.

“Last year, generous open house guests donated more than $4,000 of wishes,” said Inn at Playa del Rey owner Susan Zolla. “The shelves in the children’s rooms are full of new toys, including special therapy puppets, a dollhouse and art supplies. “The AMCS was able to partially fund counseling services for those in need, update computer equipment and continue to train new therapists.”

The Inn at Playa del Rey is also asking for donations of items on the Airport Marina Counseling Service wish list.

Holiday baking and decorating are already under way at both inns. The community is invited to enjoy an old-fashioned holiday tea with an emphasis on the giving spirit. Anyone unable to attend the teas may stop by with their donations and leave with baked goods and a chance to win a free night’s stay at either inn.
